Using Control Points
[Previous] [Main] [Next]

Control points are the way you specify a curve to WaveCAD.
A control point is displayed in the FLAT view (at bottom right). It appears as a box on the curve, with one or two "angle flags". The box just signifies the position of the control point. The angle flags signify the angle that the curve must pass through the point.

To move a control point, simply click on it and drag it. When you release the mouse button, the control point will stick where you leave it.

To change the angle flag, right click on it, and drag the mouse. When adjusting an angle flag, you should grab the control point (right click on it) and then move the mouse well away from the box so you have good accuracy as you choose an angle. If you attempt to set an angle with the mouse very close to the control point, the angle will be too sensitive to mouse motion.

This is a screen capture of the FLAT view, with a rocker curve displayed.
The boxes are the control points. The angle flags are the small red lines extending away from the boxes.

You can see the effect of the angle flags by considering the following screen shot. The angle flag of the second point has been adjusted, in a pretty undesireable way, to show their effect. The position of all the control points is exactly the same.
